OHi. Art Derfall and Sandee in Massachusetts.
A year ago I was looking for T-shirt gifts for friends and family. Every T-shirt website had boring images and dumb sayings. Since I have a great source of inexpensive ($3 to $13) photos and vector images (they can be enlarged without losing resolution), I spent up to an hour selecting the just-right image for the giftee. They loved the T-shirts and were surprised when people stopped and asked them where they got them. I’m not an artist, but I have a good “eye”. In the case of my friend’s young daughters, they chose their own images. One was the T-shirt female basketball player on the Home page. I added her name (Ella) and her number (12).
So why doesn’t every T-shirt website do this? It’s the licensing restrictions for the use of the image. I can use the image on a T-shirt as long as it is a gift. I can’t use the image on a T-shirt for sale on a website showing the T-shirt, even if I had purchased the image for each printing. Even though the company and artist would get paid for each use. Nope. So I came up with the workaround.
I provide you with the link to the image website CLICK HERE. You select and buy the image, usually in an EPS format, so I can delete the background layer in Adobe Illustrator. It looks a lot better on the T-shirt that way. If the background is part of the image, a Large size is fine.
I’ll give you the link to the three vendors I use for apparel, merchandise, and even skateboard decks. It’s easy to overlay the image on the mockup, but I’ll do it for you if you like.
Sooooo, I’m not selling T-shirts. I’m adjusting the image and helping you get it printed.
Think low volume, low profit, concierge T-shirt (and more) service. I do have an affiliate relationship with some of the printers, so I do get a commission, but you don’t pay more. As a matter of fact, you will probably pay less through my vendors than the ones you might find.
I do have images that I’ve purchased that I can put on T-shirts to sell. I’ll note that on the gallery page. No charge for the image. As for my main image source, it’s similar to ShutterStock.com (expensive). Search there by keywords that are of interest to you, so you get the idea of what’s available.
As I mentioned on the Home page, there are many groups overlooked on other T-shirt websites. This includes LGBTQ, and black men, women, and children. Certainly try the usual topics that would be of interest to you or family members. You’ll find thousands of photos and vector images that will look great on T-shirts and other apparel.
For a short time, I’m waiving the $10 concierge fee. The image will be free if I own the image, or $8 to $13 if you have to purchase the image. You can use the image for more T-shirts as gifts, but should buy the license if you are outfitting a company or a team.
